Sources NOT Cited
Relying on citing sources most certainly is NOT the most effective way to convey reality.
You might think my argumentation will surround the validity of sed sources, or the widespread corruption of what our institutions call an expert, or even the decay of academia’s gatekeepers who only allow approved topics to ever achieve the once illustrious, and now at best tenuous title of: “credible.” And while these are great reasons why one should NOT chiefly rely on citing sources, it isn’t the most compelling reason for NOT leaving a trail of APA or MLA formatted citations.
Even if we had an iron clad agreed upon dataset of unapproachable certitude, citing such sources would still NOT be the best way to tell the truth or even make a simple point.
Logic is the highest form of truth telling. Forever logic is the cornerstone of effective declamation or argumentation. No matter how you cut it or slice it, every axiomatic scale of truth telling has as its crown: Logic. Sadly today, logic is used as a frill or garnish of our slave minded effort to meticulously cite this or that paper, study or event. Logic is considered a nice to have instead of its eternal position as the foundation of how we understand reality. All other ways of taking a position on this or that topic branch off of Logic. Do NOT get me wrong I love researching studies, historical precedence, etc. Nerding out on all that goods stuff greases my skids as much as the next guy. Yet it is should NOT ever be what we most rely on.
The tip of the spear for new understandings is ever and always dangerous ground, it isn’t for the faint of heart or those enslaved to the alluring addiction of seeming sensible to the masses. As Car Sagan famously said, “Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.” Logic isn’t the abandonment of facts and evidence, Logic is the life force that holds it together. Ultimately Logic and Evidence are not separate competing entities but tension filled best friends, they are Yin and Yang, allies fighting towards the same mission. As the greater of equals, Logic doesn’t loath Evidence but supports it and allows for its most biggest moments on the brightest stages. Though Logic is the crown, what is a penthouse without the basement and strong foundation?
The greatest truths are held in the greatest tensions. Evidence is immensely important. New understandings have newly discovered facts and evidence supporting them. These new discoveries are often greatly disputed. Logic isn’t void of evidence. Logic builds off of evidence that is established and deeply agreed upon by all parties. One could make a case that logic is the most effective use of evidence. A position built from facts and evidence the other party already agrees to is significantly less fragile. When agreed upon evidence is added together it allows for a much more natural way for the other party to see things differently.
Logic hits at a deep and unseen human level, it connects with the innate self. Your sources often push people to go find another source that makes the opposite point. There is only one Logic. It stands alone. Where logic is dead null and void we will see the worst parts of humanity raise their ancient and ugly head. For more on this please see the article: From the Death of Logic.
The powers that be have always and will always position their well manicured, primped and over processed white coats as thee source of truth. Such a leviathan might only be slain by good ol lowly logic. Like Father Time, Logic is undefeated.
No one will do if for us. It is up to us to put Logic back in its proper place.
