The Don Juan

The Don Juan

A response to the post: After Trump

I have removed myself from the Don conversation at least two years ago.

Country singer Colter Wall has a great lyric which says “The whole world’s talking and no one’s sayin’ a thing”. My journey wound up at the same realization regarding the United States hot topics. Being a songwriter, I am prone to wonder off campus to pick flowers and stare into water, which is exactly what I have been doing for the past two years. Fear not my masculine and romantically and vibrantly living friend, there is a fire that burns within, which is a whole other essay for another day. Rest assured.. it burns.

My perspective on Don is this. I view him the same as the others. Admittedly, I may not have the heart nor energy to put into large talking head figures whom I have no relation with.

The world had gotten too large for me so I have devoted my practices to what is immediate to me. This has proven to be a much more sustainable way of life. How can I talk of someone I have never met? How can I describe the fragrance of the wind that rushes against the cliffs and bluffs of Ireland (a most disappointing of cultures) having never been there? I keep it simple. Ol’ daddy Don Juan is to me what Bugs Bunny is to you.

When I hear you speak of him, I sure wish I could believe it. A part of me is rooting for the very same ideals. However, after all talk of major figures, I quietly retreat to the streams and waters to gaze long into the woods, dreaming of my fairy tales again.

It is worth mentioning that some of these fairy tales involve people much like himself in rather unideal circumstances.
